This is a short video of a newly installed culvert located on Hatcher Rd in Pulaski County Arkansas. This reinforced concrete culvert replaced an aging obsolete metal culvert. This new culvert adds to the overall width of the road. The new culvert is 40 feet long while the culvert it replaced was only 29 feet long. This allowed us to add wider shoulders. Also this culvert is much larger than than the one it replaced adding to its water carrying capacity.

Tiktaalik, from the Inuit word meaning “large shallow-water fish,” had a flexible neck. Innowattech conducts a project by an industrial method of implementation via precast concrete slabs
In January 2010, an Israeli company, Innowattech Ltd., conducted a demonstration project using an industrial implementation method on Road 75 in Haifa. This method involves using precast concrete slabs in which the generators were embedded prior to arrival to the project site. The slabs are placed under the top layer of the road to ensure fast and correct placement of the generators under the surface. Previously, Innowattech has conducted several first of their kind projects in cooperation with Israel National Roads Company, implementing the IPEG™ (Innowattech Piezoelectric Generator) along several highways in Israel. The technology developed by Innowattech in association with Technion IIT (Israel Institute of Technology) is based on piezoelectric materials that enable conversion of mechanical energy exerted by the weight of passing vehicles into electrical energy. One kilometer of Innowattech’s generators along a single lane of a busy highway is capable of producing an average of 200 KWh per hour, sufficient electricity to provide for the average consumption in 200-300 households provided approximately 600 heavy trucks or buses travel through the interval per hour on average. The harvested electricity may be supplied to various road-side applications, such as traffic lights, billboards, enforcement cameras, signs, etc., as well as transferred into the electric grid. This slideshow depicts a project wherein a hospital needed to expand their parking lot into an existing sloped grade that lies in between an existing adjacent builiding. The masonry block wall foundation of the adjacent structure was sufficient to bear the load of the building but could not withstand the additional lateral forces that would be exterted on it by the use of traditional earthen fill. Many options were considered including drilling thousands of holes into the hollow block wall and fastening thousands of anchors and long metal MSE wall straps to tie back the layers and attempt to redistribute the loads to more competent layers. The engineering firm became aware of the potential utilization of InsulFoam GF Geofoam just prior to the project commencement. The contractor and the building owner both attended a presentation that discussed the concept of eliminating lateral loads on the adjacent structure by specifing InsulFoam GF as a lightweight soil replacement. The decision was made to go ahead with Geofoam and the contractor soon realized the benefits in terms of speed of installation and the elimnation of the secondary compaction requirements that are the norm with earthen fills. 4 truckloads of InsulFoam GF EPS19 replaced over 50 truckloads of gravel and eliminated the need for the MSE wall strapping. The project was then paved over and a new parking lot was put into service well within schedule.
